BenefitsCheckUp – A New Web Service From the National
Council on Aging
The National Council on the Aging (NCOA) has a quick, confidential and free web
service, BenefitsCheckUp, that can help seniors and their families connect to
the federal and state programs available to help them.
Hundreds of benefits programs exist for seniors today. The process of
researching those benefits can be complex and time-consuming. Many seniors may
be missing out on benefits available to help them.
BenefitsCheckUp is a free, confidential, online service that contains from 40 to
60 different programs for each state that seniors may be eligible for. After
filling out a simple, straightforward questionnaire – a process that rarely
takes more than 15 minutes – you can get a report detailing the programs for
which you may be qualified. The report also contains information on where and
how to apply for those benefits. The service is fast and comprehensive.
The NCOA brought together several corporations and foundations including AOL
Time Warner, Inc., New York Life, Lucent Technologies, the Merck Company
Foundation and the Archstone Foundation to make
BenefitsCheckUp available as a
free service to the public.
