Older Adults, Health Information and the World Wide
Web Conference Announcement
WASHINGTON, DC - The SPRY Foundation and a broad range of government and private organizations are jointly sponsoring a second biennial national conference entitled "Older Adults, Health Information and the World Wide Web. " The Conference will take place at the NIH/ Natcher Center on the campus of NIH in Bethesda, Maryland, February 26 - 28, 2001.
Given today's rapidly emerging biomedical research findings, there is an information overflow as well as a continuing need for older adults to make choices regarding their health. As a result, there is a need to streamline this information and how it is accessed on the Internet. This conference is designed to bring together leaders from the interdisciplinary fields of cognitive and human factors research, adult learning and education, technology development, application, and training, including website development and design. Together they will share research findings and identify new ways of using technology to more effectively communicate health information to the aging population, their caregivers, and their health providers. The conference is designed not only to share information, but also to provide the participants with a range of practical tools, experiences, and new partnerships for addressing these issues.
The conference will provide a forum for professionals from a variety of fields to discuss the issues that face older adults, their caregivers, and their healthcare professionals as they turn to the World Wide Web for health information and advice. Over 500 attendees from government and private sectors will be participating in the Conference.
Further information on the conference, including the agenda and registration information, is on the SPRY Foundation's website:
